  • Casey Grun joins the Molecular Systems Lab as an undergraduate. Casey is a freshman in Biomedical Engineering at Harvard College. Welcome Casey!
  • The Wyss Institute announces BioMod (biomod.net). BioMod (International Biomolecular Design Competition) is an undergrad molecular design competition initiated by our friend Shawn Douglas at Wyss. Along with several Wyss colleagues, Peng is serving as a faculty advisor for BioMod. Adam is organizing the Harvard undergrad BioMod team. In BioMod, undergraduate teams compete to master control of biomolecules on the nanometer scale. Students conceive and execute projects during the summer and then gather in Boston in November to present their work and win awards. Registration is open NOW and closes on March 31. Act soon!

January 2011            
  • In collaboration with Dr. William Shih, we start teaching a new course on Biologically Inspired Molecular Engineering. Alongside with Peng, several group members (Adam, Dave, John, and Tom) also give lectures and tutorials, and Adam and Elizabeth serve as teaching and administrative assistants for the course.

  • Adam Marblestone joins the lab as a graduate student. Adam is a first year graduate student and a Fannie and John Hertz Foundation Fellow. Adam did his undergraduate work in physics in Dr. Michel Devoret's lab at Yale University. For his PhD research, he is co-advised by George Church, William Shih, and Peng. Welcome Adam!           

May 2010                 
  • Bryan Wei joins the lab as a postdoctoral scholar. Bryan got his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Dr. Mi Yongli's group at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Welcome Bryan!

  • Elizabeth Haney joins the lab as a staff assistant. Elizabeth obtained a B.S. in biological sciences from Florida State University, where she was a National Merit scholar,  and a Sc.M. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Brown University, where she was an NSF graduate research fellow. Prior to joining the lab, Elizabeth worked as an administrator at the University of Chicago. Welcome Elizabeth!
