  • The Wyss Institute announces BioMod (biomod.net). BioMod (International Biomolecular Design Competition) is an undergrad molecular design competition initiated by our friend Shawn Douglas at Wyss. Along with several Wyss colleagues, Peng is serving as a faculty advisor for BioMod. Adam is organizing the Harvard undergrad BioMod team. In BioMod, undergraduate teams compete to master control of biomolecules on the nanometer scale. Students conceive and execute projects during the summer and then gather in Boston in November to present their work and win awards. Registration is open NOW and closes on March 31. Act soon!

January 2011            
  • In collaboration with Dr. William Shih, we start teaching a new course on Biologically Inspired Molecular Engineering. Alongside with Peng, several group members (Adam, Dave, John, and Tom) also give lectures and tutorials, and Adam and Elizabeth serve as teaching and administrative assistants for the course.

  • John Sadowski starts rotation. John is a third year graduate student in Chemistry, and an NSF graduate research fellow. John obtained a B.S. in Chemistry from Caltech and a M.A. in Chemistry from Harvard. John worked in Peter Dervan's lab as an undergraduate research, and in David Liu's lab as a graduate researcher. Welcome John!

  • Wei Sun joins the lab as a postdoctoral scholar. Wei did his Ph.D. work in inorganic chemistry from Dr. Chun-Hua Yan's group at Peking University. He becomes the first postdoc in the lab. Welcome Wei!

  • Molecular Systems Lab founded. Peng joins the Department of Systems Biology as an Assistant Professor and the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering as a Core Faculty member.
